The non-refundable deposit protects the transaction and ensures dogs are only reserved by people who are genuinely interested. Unfortunately there are people who fantasy shop and reserve dogs with several breeders with no intention of accentually buying all the dogs they have reserved. A non-refundable deposit protects us and true buyers from these "fantasy shoppers”.

No one wanting to do buy a puppy from us has to use our website. We would be happy to work with you via email or on the phone. Feel free to use the "Contact Us” link or email us at kjboxers@yahoo.com .

We will take a check through the mail for the deposit, because we do not reserve your puppy until that check clears the bank. We do not take a check for final payment on the day of delivery because it obviously will not have cleared the bank. We ask for a cash transaction on the day we delivery the dogs because we are bringing the real dog we expect you to bring the real payment. Honestly we want to trust everyone, but experience has taught us to be careful.

Limited registration is simply put without breeding or showing rights, unlimited would therefore include those options. We charge a onetime fee of $200 for Unlimited Registration. Limited registration requires you show proof of spay or neuter prior to you receiving AKC registration documents.

We have in the past, yes. However this is an exception to the norm, and done on a case by case biases only. The deposit is officially non-refundable. We reserve the right to refund people’s money if we agree there is a reason to.
We always reserve the right to first pick from our litters.
Our waiting list is unique. We place people on lists for specific color and sex. For example: 9 people on the list; 2 looking for a Female Fawn, 3 looking for Male Brindle, and 4 a Male Fawn with Black Mask. People will be offered and hold a place on the list for the type of dog they are looking for. So, though you may be 1st on the list for a Female Fawn if you were also interested in a Male Brindle you could be 4th on that list.
Yes. All breeders likely have a waiting list, because there are people who, rightfully so, are looking for that perfect puppy. We always have people waiting, and though the list grows and shrinks from time to time, it is always a factor.

We deliver puppies at 8 weeks. It is for health reasons that puppies are not available before this time. In many states there are actually laws against selling a puppy before 8 weeks. At 8 weeks puppies have their vaccinations and are old enough to be relocated.
We deliver puppies again for health and safety concerns. We do not allow anyone to come to our home and pick up their puppies, because we do not want to take the risk of introducing an illness to our dogs. Additionally we do not want to invite potential theft. It is unfortunate that we have to be this cautious but it is in the best interest of our dogs.
Yes. We pay close attention to the buyers and constantly try to evaluate them. Buyers should also be evaluating us. There have on occasion been times we’ve suggested a buyer go somewhere else either because they do not seem to be a match for our puppies or because they are demanding we make exceptions to our safety precautions. We reserve the right to refuse a potential buyer out of concern for our pups, at all times our puppies come first.
Yes. We have had several occasions where people were unable to take their puppy for whatever reasons until after the 8 week delivery date. We are willing to hold them for a few more negotiable weeks, depending on the circumstances.
We always reserve the right to change our pricing, and to set prices. On average our males go for about $800 and our females for about $900. There is an additional $200 for unlimited registration. We try to keep our pricing fair and competitive. You should shop around and be sure you are getting the dog you want, no matter the price.
Yes, after 8 weeks you may see the puppies in person and buy then. We are willing to bring puppies after 8 weeks to people to look at and buy in person. There are rarely any puppies available at the 8 week date. We understand peoples concern with buying a puppy sight-unseen, however for our puppies’ protection we do not allow outside contact until after 8 weeks. We also offer a section on this website where we keep current photos of puppies and email photos.

Our family has been breeding boxers as a hobby for several years. We have only been doing it under the name of KJ Boxers for the past two or three years. We are NOT full time breeders. We have regular people jobs and do regular people things too. Boxers are our passion, hobby and best friends, not our source of income.
KJ Boxers is not a member of any Boxer Club. We breed boxers as a hobby not a profession and we do not enter competitions or show our dogs at this time.
Boxers are wonderful dogs. The characteristic will vary from one dog to another, however in general one can expect most boxers to have these traits.
- Drooling – Some a little and others a lot.
- Snoring – Some a little others should sleep in the other room
- Intelligent – Boxers are very smart and learn fast. They require short, positive and consistent training.
- Stubborn – Strong willed and independent.
- Flatulent – Boxers fart, some a little others a lot, all stink.
- Playful and Energetic – Most boxers need at least an hour of your time a day.
- Human oriented – Boxers love people, and love to be around their owners.
The temperament of a dog, any dog, is not born to them. I hate to see any website or expert or the like claiming a dog is born or predisposed to a certain temperament only because of breed genetics. There is just so much more that goes into a dog’s temperament. You may or may not agree. While there are certain traits that lend to temperament, we firmly believe a Boxer in a good home, positively trained and well socialized will have a great temperament and disposition. Having cleared that up there are traits lending to the disposition of a boxer.
- Playful – Boxers are play machines, they are always in the mood.
- Protective – Boxers can be very protective of their pack, human family.
- Active – Boxers are always willing to get out and about, very high energy.
- Mischievous - If one does not keep a boxer active, one will find the mischievous side of their boxer
- Slow to grow old – Boxers are puppies to old age, playful and full of life.
- Loyal – Boxers will often be found following owners around, like a second shadow.
- Affectionate – Boxers love to love and be loved.
- Aggressive if threatened – We have known boxers at early ages to defend and protect themselves and others.

Boxers are Medium sized dogs;
Males
23 to 25 inches at the shoulder
50 to 70 Lbs. |
Females
21 ½ to 23 ½ inches at the shoulder
45 to 65 Lbs. |
Adult Boxers will need at least one (1) hour of exercise and interaction daily, fit boxers can handle 2 or 3 hours of activity, but do not force them.
Puppies start with 15 to 20 minutes of exercise and interaction and work up, let the puppy tell you, but never push a puppy.
Boxers do bark, however they are not incessant yappers like most of the small breeds. We feel most all dogs do bark, but with proper training dogs can be taught to bark when it is appropriate.
Simple answer, yes. They do shed, not as bad as some breeds, yet a little more than others. I would say Boxers are medium shedders. It’s not normally difficult to keep up with through brushing once a week.
Boxers are fairly easy to care for. Brushing them once a week helps keep shedding under control and they only need a bath once or twice a year or as needed when they get into something. As far as nail trimming goes, this is a once a week to once every two weeks thing and if started young it’s much easier in the later years. Due to a boxers short hair they do not need hair trimming at all.
This is a point of controversy and here is our theory on why. First off boxers are extremely smart, as long as you understand them. I have heard some people claim boxers are difficult to train. I think it is more likely they do not know how to train a boxer.
Boxers are smart and learn very, very fast. Once they have learned something, they are ready to move on. Many dogs require 15-20 minutes a day of training, boxers are likely to learn the same things in 8-10 minutes a day. Boxer also will not respond to negative reinforcement. In fact they will become very stubborn and even aggressive if not positively reinforced. Once a boxer does what is expected, one or two more times is all that is needed for that day, or your boxer will get bored and stop responding. This method of teaching a boxer, rewarding and praising them all the while works very well. We have taught puppies to sit at 10 weeks old in less than 2 minutes. Boxers learn from repetition, positive reinforcement, and breaks.
They are puppies at heart and play even in to their old age. However they will sleep and lay around too, as long as they are getting enough exercise. Boxers are very much the puppy as middle aged dogs.
Caution should be taken any time kids and dogs are together, however boxers are known to be wonderful with kids. It is imperative that boxers are properly socialized. They must be from puppies up exposed to people, young and old, other pets, noises and situations. Most boxers are great with kids, love kids and love to play with kids, however smaller children make not do well with the energy level and as a boxer grows the boxer could inadvertently knock a child down. Puppies are still learning and will play rough and give exploratory bites. Our rule is simple; puppies and toddler ages down do not go together. Puppies and school aged children will do ok with supervision. Best time for a child to have a boxer is 10 years old and up, they can play together and become best of friends. That said with training a boxer can learn to be "good” around any age. Properly supervised and train boxers are not a threat to any child whatsoever. Don’t forget to train the children on how to be around your boxer, or any animal for that matter.
Boxers need to learn to be with other pets and just like kids this is a learning process for both pets. Never confine pets in closed in areas, and never just let them learn to get along, start slow, with a fence between them, and then at the ends of leads. Once they are comfortable, let them grow from there.

We require a non-refundable $200 deposit for our Boxers. When a Boxer is reserved, we hold that dog for that person, the deposit protects the transaction. It also helps to weed out those who are not serious buyers. Phantom or fantasy buyers are those who are shopping several locations at once, and will ask to put a hold on a boxer pretending to be a legitimate buyer when in fact they are placing holds all around. This prevents truly interested people from having an opportunity to reserve the boxer and creates a situation in which the legitimate buyer does not get the opportunity to reserve the dog. The sketchy shopper backs out, the legitimate buyer has moved on and we get stuck trying to sell a boxer that is older than people are looking for. Therefore the $200 non-refundable deposit is our way of protecting the buyer, us and our dogs.
Not always… There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes. Simply put if we offer or advertise a Boxer for sale we will sale them with two exceptions. The first of which being we discover a pup unfit for sale for any reason. Secondly if we determine that a potential buyer should not own a boxer, due to incompatible life styles or indications they will not make good boxer owners. If a pup is pulled from sale a full refund would be given.

We understand the personal sacrifice our men and women of the military make, just being in the military one gives up so many of the things we "civilians” take for grant it. I (John) was in the US Army from 1986 to 1999, and served at the whim of the orders I was given. I did my Duty with Honor and Pride and I have a lifelong connection with anyone who served before or serves today. We offer a military discount because it is our way of saluting those who honor their country as I once did and because if anyone in our crazy society deserves a break, it’s those who stand up for America.

We are people of Faith, and we are not ashamed of that. I wish there were a better app for this, but after looking the daily verse we have is the best one I could find. We have the daily verse on the website for the same reasons it would be on any website. While you are on ours you can get a quickly short verse and hopefully a touch of inspiration for the day. It’s our little faith handshake.
